What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace. --Agnes M. Pharo

Christmas day is three weeks from today. When I think about it, I start thinking about all that is needed to be done....shopping, decorating, cooking, wrapping gifts...it seems the list goes on and on. I think that for many of us we get caught up in the hustle and the bustle of the season, the stresses of it rather than the spirit of the season. We need to slow down, stop and rejoice in that which is ours....
Never the less I keep thinking I have so much to do and so much holiday food to avoid. The parties, the goodies, the drinks..all there for the taking over the next few weeks. How does one survive the temptations, not feel deprived, and enjoy the time for what it is?
I guess it means to really think about what Christmas really means. It means getting together with family and friends, seeing joy and happiness on the little one's faces.. feeling the excitement in the air.. Here in New England the snow mixed with Christmas lights is just an added bonus.
Looking at past Christmas's I see a woman who loved everything about her life...but her own physical shell. This year the holidays mean dressing up and knowing that I will look nice, that I can wear those special outfits and not try to hide my body underneath a big bulky sweater. This year it means going to a gathering and enjoying the company..the joy, the laughter and making the goodies a non priority...It means having enough courage to remember that this is who and what I want to be...I love being healthy and thin and do not want to gain weight just because it is Christmas. I need to practice moderation during this season...I am an all or nothing gal..so this is a good time to try and learn all about moderation and choice..so that when I look to the future I will still see the Annie of today staring back at me.
Christmas is the season of giving and this year I intend on giving myself the gift of freedom...These holidays will be spectacular and I will be at peace with my way of life..for this is who and what I am
May this Christmas Season bring your joy from within!
